Choose the convenience of day or evening on-campus and online classes at Medical Careers Institute (MCI). Located in Newport News, Virginia, Medical Careers Institute can provides two nursing programs that will help you to begin a nursing career, or to advance your current career to new levels.
The practical nursing diploma prepares the student to become a valuable member of a healthcare team, working under physician or a registered nurse supervision. As a student, you will learn how to function in the delivery of care to individuals and families, communicate effectively, use critical thinking, and to integrate ethical and professional theory and clinical practice into actions and decision in the real world. As an MCI graduate, you can secure employment in nursing homes, hospitals, doctors' offices, and in corporate and public school health programs.
You can also obtain an associate degree in nursing from MCI. This program prepares graduates to be providers of quality patient care and coordinators of professional nursing duties provided by other healthcare workers. You will learn the most current knowledge and skills needed to meet clients' prevention, health maintenance, health promotion and restorative needs. You will learn the art and science of nursing with a focus on the application of theory to clinical practice. The nurse with an ASN can work in public, private, and in governmental health agencies and institutions.
MCI focuses on producing successful graduates in the health care field. To this end, the school provides academic and career advising with individual attention. The school makes every effort to advise students both during their enrollment and in the transition from college to career. MCI maintains contact with hundreds of local and national firms to determine employer needs. MCI graduates are often referred and scheduled for employment interviews as employment openings occur.
