The nursing program at Provo College will challenge you to achieve high levels of performance both in the classroom and in clinical settings. As a Provo student, you are encouraged to help your peers with cooperation rather than competitiveness, as Provo wishes for success for all students. Provo provides the learning conditions that will help you to learn how to work as a team – skills that will provide invaluable experience as a career nurse in a working health care environment.
The Associate of Science degree in nursing program at Provo prepares graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN. Upon successful passing of the examination, graduates will be qualified to work as entry-level registered nurses (RN) in a variety of health care settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, home health, ambulatory care sites, and other health settings. Students are provided the opportunity to develop skills through theoretical and clinical experience.
Provo's enthusiastic and clinically current faculty teach students how to provide holistic, comprehensive nursing care to patients in both structured and unstructured settings In addition, you will learn to integrate clinical judgment to formulate decisions, to establish priorities, to delegate responsibilities, and to evaluate care given. The nursing program will recommend promotion and progression for students who satisfy health, conduct, scholastic achievement, and aptitude requirements of the nursing department.
All of Provo College's programs are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). Provo College also is approved by the Utah State Board of Nursing to offer the Associate of Science in Nursing Degree. The program is also fully accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) through 2011. Students who completing Provo's nursing program will meet the educational requirements for licensure and will be allowed to sit for the Registered Nurse licensing examination (NCLEX-RN).
