Nursing Schools in North Dakota
As with any other state in the nation, North Dakota faces nursing shortages. They also maintain few medical facilities in the capital city of Bismarck. North Dakota currently carries a moratorium on beds in nursing homes, where the North Dakota legislature controls the number of nursing home beds available for the sick and the elderly. This moratorium is set to expire in 2009, but the legislature is seeking to remedy the problem.
While the lack of nursing home beds currently is being remedied in Bismarck, the largest city in the state — Fargo — features several healthcare systems and other specialized medical operations. Two of these facilities include the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation Health System and the Merit Healthcare System with hospitals throughout the state.
