Nursing Schools in Oregon
Oregon recently passed Senate Bill 4, an initiative that invests in scholarships and grants to encourage nurses to stay in Oregon and build healthier communities. While Portland, this state's largest city, and Salem, the capital, maintain many large health systems, Oregon's smaller cities and towns also provide opportunity for employment.
The state's largest health care system, Legacy, is located in Portland and has branches throughout that city. But direct competition comes from the Providence Health System, located in Hood River with centers also located in Portland. In addition, two new Oregon psychiatric hospitals are planned for Salem (620-bed) and in Junction City (360-bed). Finally, the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and the OHSU Medical Group are partners in providing leading-edge health care services to patients throughout Oregon, the Pacific Northwest and far beyond. Their largest facility, Marquam Hill Campus, is based in Portland.
