Nursing Schools in Wyoming

The death rate due to Alzheimer's disease is 50 percent higher than the national average, the occupational death rate is three times higher than the national average and the death rates of teens and young children both outstrip the national averages in Wyoming. Yet, Wyoming faces a nursing shortage like every other state. At the same time, Wyoming is a sparsely populated state that experiences a tight labor market, and it saw a 10.2 percent increase in wages during 2006.

Major medical facilities are sparse in this state, with two major hospitals located in the capital and largest city, Cheyenne. One of these centers is a Veterans Administration hospital, and the other - Cheyenne Regional Medical Center – serves a regional population with 150 physicians, 1,600 employees, and 400 volunteers. Other locations that house hospitals include Evanston, Laramie, Cody, Casper, Jackson, and Green River, among other smaller towns.
