Program details:
Indiana State University's baccalaureate track for licensed practical nurses offers vocational nurses a means through which they may complete a BSN and achieve eligibility to apply to take the RN licensure examination. Students who choose to take this track via distance education are held to the same progression, retention and dismissal policies as students in the four-year baccalaureate program of study.
BSN graduates are prepared to provide direct and indirect nursing care, and also are prepared to communicate, educate, advocate, and can assume beginning leadership roles. The program leading to the baccalaureate degree is approved by the Indiana State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC).

Indiana State University offers the RN to BSN degree program as well as an MSN where you can choose among family nurse practitioner, nursing administration, or nursing education options. These accredited courses, degrees, and professional development programs are offered via distance learning and are taught by Indiana State University faculty that also teach traditional classroom courses.
Enrolling in an online program will give you the freedom to continue working, raising a family, or to have the option of taking classes over the summer. Online and traditional classes may be mixed if a student wants to participate in both types of learning. Distance courses are delivered primarily via the Web (Internet), but you also may experience Web (Internet) courses that enable you to earn credit anywhere you have access to an Internet-connected computer. Selected courses include video and audio components.
Once students are enrolled in an Indiana State University program, admissions counselors, academic counselors, and technical support staff will assist them. Students will be given a list of what they will need when they enroll in classes, and books and other materials may be purchased at the campus bookstore or online.
Indiana State University approaches online learning the same way that it approaches traditional class work. Students are expected to turn in assignments on time, participate in online discussions, and ask questions at any time. Learning online will allow students to have more time to study when they are able, but they must keep up with readings, assignments, and other projects that may be assigned.
Indiana State's BSN provides a firm foundation for those students who wish to pursue the MSN. Graduates from the MSN program are prepared for leadership and clinical roles in advanced practice nursing, or can extend studies with a doctoral program.
